LNG carrier. Frenstar provided shutdown butterfly valves to Atlantic LNG in Trinidad & Tobago
LNG carrier for transporting LNG (liquefied natural gas) – this is the most common way to transport natural gas in liquid form.
About Atlantic LNG

Atlantic is one of the world’s largest producers of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Frenstar was asked to provide shutdown butterfly valves for Atlantic LNG.

LNG is produced from natural gas delivered from fields in and around the Caribbean Islands of Trinidad and Tobago to a four-train liquefaction facility. It is located in Point Fortin, on the southwest coast of Trinidad.

Atlantic was incorporated in 1995 to develop a natural gas liquefaction plant in Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago. The liquefaction facility provides a total capacity of 15 million metric tonnes per annum. The facility includes a port area with two 700-metre jetties, an approach channel used by LNG carriers to berth at the jetty and a turning basin. Each jetty can accommodate an LNG carrier of approximately 171,000 cubic metres in size.

Specification

Triple Offset Class 600 Actuated Butterfly valves. Complete with heavy duty scotch yoke actuators.

Outcome

Atlantic LNG was satisfied with Frenstar’s performance in delivering the Shutdown butterfly valves on time with documents compliant to the end user’s Supplier Data Requirements List (SDRL).

A natural gas liquefaction plant utilising four-train liquefaction facility. The four trains use the Phillips Optimised Cascade Process which cools natural gas using refrigerants until it liquefies at atmospheric pressure. This eases transport of gas between the liquefaction plant and regasification site.
